THE BLUE GUM CENTRE TEAM
The Blue Gum Centre for Psychology & Psychotherapy is a small team of qualified and experienced clinicians who practise across a wide range of psychotherapies. We are committed to continuing professional development to strengthen and expand our areas of expertise.
All our psychologists are fully registered through the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
DR KATIE WYMAN
Co-Founder & Principal Psychologist
As co-founder and principal psychologist I'm interested in developing Blue Gum as a place where people are welcomed and cared for, and where individuals needs are asked about and attended to. In this environment, clients can examine and explore their unique psychological world and make changes to lead freer, fuller lives.
In my work with clients I'm interested in finding out what places clients are stuck, both in their lives and in their psychological processes. I mostly use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Schema Therapy to create the specific treatment plans clients need to get unstuck in life.
I have extensive experience and competence in diagnosing and treating many mental health conditions (e.g., anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, substance use disorders). Having said that, I prefer to focus on the whole person, including any mental health conditions, in the context of a client's life rather than diagnosing and treating mental health disorders in isolation.

GREGORY BUCK
Co-Founder & Psychologist
I completed my undergraduate and higher degree training in psychology over the course of a decade whilst working as a secondary teacher. I progressed to senior psychologist positions across sectors (Department of Education and Training), and public mental health including roles in early psychosis and adult mental health. Alongside, I worked in group private practice (Kaye Frankcom & Associates) and also for headspace National, leading an evidence-based review of a national mental health initiative for secondary schools.
I have a long interest in the nexus between mental health and high-performance sports. I worked over many years with professional and semi-professional sports men and women. During this period, I became one of the first clinical psychologists to work full-time within an AFL club with roles across player and staff welfare, performance, and recruitment.
I have a faculty position at the Cairnmiller Institute preparing graduate trainees for the demands of modern practice. You can find more details by clicking here.
I am a versatile psychologist. I offer treatment for discrete and complex clinical concerns or long-term psychotherapy targeting a range of life-stage issues or inner struggles. My practice is influenced by modern cognitive and behavioural approaches (particularly Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) and integrative approaches namely Schema therapy. I draw widely from the insights of other traditions including humanistic, psychodynamic and existential.

LEANNE SHAW
Psychologist
I've been a registered psychologist for over 20 years, working in both public and private mental health settings, providing residential, group, and individual therapy.
Due to my time working at Spectrum Personality Disorder Service for Victoria, I have experience in and, an affinity for working with issues related to personality disorder, attachment trauma, complex PTSD and self-harm. I also offer support for a range of other challenges such as anxiety, low mood, loss, loneliness, and family and relationship issues.
While my therapeutic approach is grounded in person-centered and psychodynamic theories, I blend techniques and tools from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and mindfulness and compassion-based therapies to meet individual need.
I've always been naturally curious about people - how we differ from each other, how we're shaped by our upbringing and culture, and the underlying threads of common humanity that connect us all.
In you, I see a unique and complex person with individual temperament, thoughts, feelings, relational patterns, and unmet needs. I will invite you to speak openly about whatever is on your mind, at your own pace and in your own way. I will listen carefully and, more importantly, encourage you to hear yourself in new ways, bringing more awareness and acceptance to your experiences.
Therapy can be a source of solace and growth, offering both comfort and challenges. I work carefully to create a balance between the two.

DR DERVILA GEC
Psychologist
I am a clinical psychologist with over 12 years experience working in the field of mental health. I work with adults (18+), presenting with a range of psychological difficulties including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, personality difficulties, stress and adjustment problems.

I bring a curious, collaborative and non-judgemental stance to my work and endeavour to create a safe therapeutic space for individuals to reflect on, and explore their psychological world. As a psychologist I believe in the importance of individuals reflecting on what is going on in their own minds and in also reflecting on what might be going on in the minds of others. This can help facilitate greater cognitive flexibility which can relieve distress.

I draw from a number of therapeutic modalities including Mentalisation Based Treatment (MBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and self-compassion and mindfulness. My work is also informed by psychodynamic principles. I am a registered MBT practitioner.
I also enjoy working with family members of people with mental health difficulties and welcome people from the LGBTIQ+ communities.

KELLY WATT-MCMAHON
Psychologist
I have been practicing as a clinical psychologist for over 30 years, so bring a lot of professional expereince to my work with clients. My approach uses humanistic principles, deep empathy and attuned connection, to really understand the experiences of those I work with, and support them to feel seen and heard in a way they may not be experiencing in their personal lives. Getting to know my clients means developing a shared understanding about their current issues, but also how their past influences their present. this allows me to bring together aspects of different evidence-based treatment models to tailor a therapeutic approach that is individually suited to specific need. The models I draw from include Acceptance & commitment Therapy and other mindfulness-based approaches, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Treatment, Self-Psychology, Internal Family Systems, and Cognitive Behavioural Therpay.
I have significant experience working with people who have a history of trauma, and want to feel less overwhelmed by their emotional world. I also provide therapy for depression, anxiety and perfectionism, stress related issues, emotion regulation, relationship difficulties, managing symptoms of psychotic disorders and biploar disorder, and self-harm and suicidal thoughts. I'm diversity-affirming, have experience supporting adults with high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder, and welcome people from the LGBTIQ+ communities. I have extensive experience providing assessment and treatment to those diagnosed with personality difficulties, and giving support to their family and friends. I also see clients on the NDIS, for capacity building and developing a better quality of life.
I'm a Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor, and also really enjoy supervising practitioners from other disciplines and contexts, including community support services. Having provided consultation and training to services throughout Australia regarding working with individuals with personality disorder diagnosis, I'm available for supervision, consultation and training workshops in this field.
Most recently, I've been working in the tertiary sector, undertaking research, and training and supervising the next generation of psychologists.

DR MATT BROWN
Psychologist
I have over 15 years of experience working within mental health and physical health settings both in the UK and more recently here in Australia. I pride myself on providing a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic space to help people feel comfortable expressing who they are and the concerns they bring to therapy.
I work with people with a range of psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment, relationship difficulties, grief and loss. I have extensive experience of working with people with physical ill health, including cancer and long-term health conditions and all the challenges this can bring up both within the individual and within their relationships with others. I provide individual therapy and couples therapy.
Throughout my career I have been passionate about supporting the health and wellbeing of sexual and gender minority communities (LGBTQIA+), having also provided therapy to people who identify as LGBTQIA+ for over 10 years. I have provided individual and couples therapy to help people navigate issues around sexuality and sexual identity and have worked with organisations supporting the intersex community and gay, bisexual and trans dads.
My approach to therapy is grounded in cognitive and behavioural theory (i.e. CBT) and is heavily influenced by Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I also draw on concepts from Systemic Therapy and Narrative Therapy. I work collaboratively with my clients to ensure therapy is tailored to each individual and that the work we do together is both meaningful and effective.
